DFD ALARMS TOTAL CLIMBS TO 157

North Greenbush – In April, DeFreestville Fire Department volunteers answered 44 emergency alarms and spent 448 total fire fighter hours at emergencies, according to the monthly alarm report by Fire Chief Raymond Swart. The Chief said DFD has answered 157 alarms and spent more than 1200 hours at emergencies so far in 2012.

DFD ALARM TOTAL HITS 113 IN MARCH

North Greenbush – Volunteers of the DeFreestville Fire Department answered 47 alarms in the month of March, raising the Department’s total for the first quarter of 2012 to 113, according to the monthly report from Fire Chief Raymond Swart. The Chief also noted that DFD fire fighters spent nearly 250 total hours at emergencies last month, for a total of more than 745 hours for the year.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Saturday April 28 is Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Proper disposal of unused prescription and over-the-counter medications is important to protect both people and the environment. Unused medications that remain in the home can cause serious harm if they are taken accidentally, intentionally misused or inappropriately given to someone else. Unused medications that are flushed down the toilet or poured into the sink can enter the water supply, harming the environment.
