OFFICERS INSTALLED, AWARDS GIVEN AT DFD DINNER

North Greenbush – The slate of 2012 Department officers were installed and community and service awards were presented at the DeFreestville Fire Department’s 66th Annual Installation and Inspection Dinner held on Saturday, January 7, at the Melvin Roads American Legion Post in East Greenbush.

DFD ALARM TOTAL RISES NEARLY 10% WITH 471 CALLS IN 2011

DeFreestville Fire Department volunteers answered 9.5% more alarms in 2011 than in 2010, according to the annual report of Fire Chief Raymond Swart. The Chief said DFD answered 471 emergency calls last year compared with 426 alarms in 2010.
In 2011, DFD had the following alarms totals by type:
Structure Fires 12
Rescue/MV Accidents 53
Emergency Medical Services 82
Hazardous Conditions 40

DFD HANDLES 96 CALLS IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER
North Greenbush – Volunteers of the DeFreestville Fire Department answered 54 alarms in October and a further 42 in November to bring the year’s total for responses to 436 according to the monthly reports of Fire Chief Raymond Swart. He said DFD fire fighters had spent a total of more than 2,846 fire fighter hours at alarms during the first 11 months of 2011.
