INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS, AWARDS PRESENTATIONS, AT DFD DINNER

(Jan 19, 2010) The DeFreestville Fire Department, newly-consolidated within the North Greenbush Fire District #1, held its first Inspection Dinner and Installation Banquet as part of the Fire District on Saturday, January 9, at the Melvin Roads American Legion Post in East Greenbush.
Fire officers elected at the December meeting of the Department and installed Saturday were Fire Chief Raymond Swart, 1st Assistant Chief Shane Clute and 2nd Assistant Chief Brian McCrae. Civil officers elected and installed included President Robert Durivage, Vice President William Stewart, Treasurer David Wos, Secretary Jeffery Stehr and Membership Secretary Richard French. North Greenbush Town Supervisor Josephine Ashworth installed the elected officers.
Among the 2009 awards presented by the Department at the dinner were:
• Unit Commendation (Reversal of a Cardiac Arrest) – David Cohn, Matt Durivage, Richard French, Brandon Galligan, Kim Lashmet, Brian McCrae, Jason Strosberg, Raymond Swart, Diane Westfall, and JD Wilson.

• High Alarm Attendance – David Cohn, 243 alarms.

• Officer Commendation Awards – Captain J.D. Wilson, Lieutenant William Burkart, Engineer Jason Strosberg.

• Years of Service Awards: 30 Years- Frank Serbent, 25 years – PJ Facteau, 20 Years – Diane Westfall, 15 Years – Bill Fleming, Bill Stewart, 10 years – Jim Fontaine, Bryan Jones, 5 Years – Kim Lashmet, Avery White.

• Service as DFD President (2005-2009) – Tim O’Connor

• Special Awards for Fire District Expansion Project – Mark Lacivita and Fire District Commissioners Daniel Garab (Chair), Joseph Hogan, Michael Lashmet, James Miner and Jay Wilson.
