North Greenbush – Volunteers of the DeFreestville Fire Department in North Greenbush Fire District #1 responded to 34 emergency alarms during March, for a total of 106 alarms during the first quarter of 2010, according to the monthly report of DFD Fire Chief Raymond Swart. The Chief noted that the March alarms involved more than 171 fire fighter hours, and DFD volunteers have expended more than 730 fire fighter hours at alarms for the year.

Chief Swart said the March calls included eight false alarms with good intent, seven emergency medical service responses, six rescue or motor vehicle accident calls, three hazardous condition alarms, two carbon monoxide detector calls, two cover assignments for neighboring fire stations, two service calls, two alarm system malfunction responses, one grass/brush fire and an unintentional false alarm. DFD crews treated 15 patients during the month.
