DFD REPEATS ALARM TOTAL WITH 34 DURING APRIL
North Greenbush – Volunteers of the DeFreestville Fire Department in North Greenbush Fire District #1 responded to 34 emergency alarms during April, the same total for the prior month, making a total of 140 alarms during the first four months of 2010, according to the monthly report of DFD Fire Chief Raymond Swart. The Chief noted that the April alarms involved more than 253 fire fighter hours, and DFD volunteers have expended more than 983 fire fighter hours at alarms for the year.
Chief Swart said the April alarms included five emergency medical service responses, five grass/brush fires, four rescue or motor vehicle accident calls, four false alarms with good intent, three hazardous condition alarms, three unintentional false alarms, three alarm system malfunctions, two carbon monoxide detector calls, a structure fire, a rubbish fire, and a service call.
The DeFreestville Fire Department is a volunteer organization established in 1945 that provides emergency services 24 hours a day.
