(Jul 29, 2010)         DFD ANSWERED 71 ALARMS DURING MAY AND JUNE
North Greenbush –DeFreestville Fire Department volunteers answered 30 emergency alarms in May and another 41 in June, according to the monthly reports of DFD Fire Chief Raymond Swart. The Chief noted the May and June calls raised the total for the first six months of the year to 211 alarms and involved more than 618 fire fighter hours and the alarms for the two months. He said DFD volunteers have expended more than 1,600 total fire fighter hours at alarms during the first half of the year.
Chief Swart said the May alarms included five emergency medical service responses, five rescue or motor vehicle accident calls, four hazardous condition alarms, three cover assignments for neighboring departments, three false alarms with good intent, three alarm system malfunctions, three unintentional false alarms, two rubbish fires, a structure fire and a vehicle fire.
In June, DFD answered eight cover assignments, seven hazardous condition responses, six emergency medical service calls, six false alarms with good intent, three unintentional false alarms, two vehicle fires, two rescue/accident alarms, two rubbish fires, two carbon monoxide detector alarms, one structure fire, a service call and an alarm system malfunction.
